What a week! What a game!
Rolling in with 37,985 fans to what will be the new “Marvel Stadium” as of September, after the new 8 year deal been signed by the AFL, the importance of the game was known to all, Next year we might be served by Spiderman or even Deadpool, exciting times ahead.
The weather was good and the result even better, the view from the Laureate Room was fantastic as we welcomed back some of our greatest players Travis Cloke and his father David, along with a face we all know and love Peter Mitchell form Channel 7 news.
Travis back watching the two clubs that he gallantly went to battle for and always played his heart out, but we all knew his love was deep for the black and white. Finally back in our inner sanctum, he announced he would be back at Holden Centre playing a major role with AFLW with assisting the development of our AFLW team and hopefully they can all be as successful as Travis was. Here is a great interview with Travis opening up about his days playing AFL.
Peter Mitchell the face we all know and love that brings us the good and the bad news daily, enlighten as always, discussing the highlights and low lights of being the face that that has to let Melbourne know some of the most hoffice incidents in history but also being the person who can bring a smile to a city with the most heartfelt stories.
What a game, we all knew how important it was too win this game and a win would make teams pay attention, and fear taking us on.
As the battle began the room vacated and we were looking in real trouble, with the boys looking flat and lacking that killer instinct behind the ball, but then in the second quarter we were able to hold the fort and keep the game from blowing out, as we trailed by 26pts in the second quarter
Then the time came to get the Woodsmen up and about, 8 unanswered goals after half time. Adssy turned it on and ended up with a fantastic 40 possessions and 2 great goals. With 17 scoring shots to 4, the boys we on fire and the excitement filled the room as we all knew this how we play, hard direct football on and off the ball and side by side we can change a game on its ear very quickly.
Next game: Vs Freo on Sunday 3rd June.
See you all there.
